What kind of work it is

TxDOT labels each proposal with a major work type. Here is what those categories usually involve, and how many proposals on this letting fall into each:

  • Routine maintenance (5): district maintenance work such as mowing, litter, striping, guardrail repair, crack sealing or material supply, let as term contracts. Proposals: 12264001, 12264002, 12264003, 12264004, 12264005.

The work type is only a label. The bid item list and plans for each proposal show the real quantities. Subcontractors and suppliers should price from those, not from the category.

How to bid

  • Primes: TxDOT will only issue a bid proposal to a firm it has qualified. The Confidential Questionnaire (audited CPA financial statement) covers all construction, maintenance and materials projects within your bidding capacity. The Bidder's Questionnaire covers projects TxDOT marks "Waived", capped at $1 million of capacity unless you submit a compiled or reviewed statement. See our TxDOT bidding guide.
  • Submitting: Bids go in through iCX, TxDOT's electronic bidding system. New contractors get an administrator account after they prequalify.
  • Documents: Informational proposals and plans are in TxDOT's Plans Online, and the Notice to Contractors dashboard shows which projects are waived. Qualification packets must reach TxDOT at least 10 days before the letting.
  • Subcontractors and suppliers: You don't need TxDOT prequalification, but you do need Texas Secretary of State registration and E-Verify enrollment. Find the primes pricing each job and send your quotes. Our county hubs list the qualified bidders and licensed trades in each county, for example McLennan.
  • After the letting: TxDOT reads the bids at the statewide letting and publishes bid tabulations as open data. We add results to our past lettings table.
